Rachel started modeling when she was 13. During her studies at Cambridge University she started acting. A year after she won a modelling competition aged 13, she was spotted by producers. They asked her to star with Richard Gere in the film ‘King David’, but her father reportedly wasn’t keen on her taking the part. She eventually rejected it, preferring to concentrate on her studies.
Rachel starred in the movie ‘The Constant Gardener’ in 2005, for which she won an Academy Award, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Supporting Actress.
In June 2011, she married ‘James Bond’ actor Daniel Craig in a private ceremony in New York. They first met in their early twenties, when they starred in a play together. They were friends for years before finally getting together in 2011. Their wedding, which took place in June of that year, was a low key affair with only four guests: their two children (Henry, and Daniel’s daughter from a previous relationship) and two close friends to act as witnesses.
